if the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite. - william blake
there is nowhere else you could be. right here. right now. is all that’s real.
do you ever wonder if there are worlds on top of worlds on top of worlds on top of worlds? sometimes i find myself getting so caught up in the nonsense that i forget and neglect to pay attention to the now. the now, such a tasty proposition. it’s all there is, really. and perhaps we’re all, it’s all, a dream being dreamed. i’ve certainly got no answers. but i sure do love when i’m dreaming. dreaming while asleep, dreaming while awake. it’s all a dream being dreamed. and i find that when i stop taking it all so seriously and approach life with curiosity and playfulness, i am more awake to and aware of the sublime beauty and supreme preciousness of life.
true dat, buk, true dat. what the fuck is it about humans that we so often can’t love ourselves or others and just start from there? it’s as if we’re missing something. i mean, not lacking, just unwilling to pause and see what is. it’s a fucking miracle to be alive. to incarnate in human form. there’s something so damn incomprehensible about it that the only emotion that makes sense is awe. and then it helps intensify the beauty to move into gratitude, passion, courage, love, joy…. that way the odds that we are ‘eaten up by nothing’ diminish significantly and the odds that we can make the most of this once in a lifetime gift soar!
not sure what to think about this one. lots of places one could go. but i’ll say this, i’ve never felt that the number of humans on earth was a problem, it’s what we humans do to the earth that’s of concern. we tend to take far more than we give, and that never ends well. we also tend to see our species as superior to all the others, which of course, is a lie. and finally, we tend to believe ourselves to be separate from the earth and each other, and this false belief is at the root of our unmindful and unsustainable behavior and way of life. i’ve no idea if we’ll change, but i’m certain if we don’t it’ll be the end of us.

single
question
Miracles abound.
They are a part of every touch, taste, sight and sound.
The iris, the rose,
the wisdom over time that grows.
The mountain, the hummingbird,
the healing of a kind word.
The cool autumn breeze, the sound of a sneeze.
The firefly, the star lit sky.
The sweetness of an apple.
The safe haven of a chapel.
The touch of a loved one. The rising sun.
The being born and the dying. The laughter and the crying.
The river and sea. The capacity to dream.
The elephant, the gardens we plant,
the moments we can when we think we can’t.
The soil and the rain. The sorrow and the pain.
The asking of the why’s. The emotions we disguise.
The comfort of a dog. The warmth of a burning log.
The ease of the dawn. The joy of a song.
The deliciousness of homemade pie. The twinkle in a child’s eyes.
The body that sustains us unconditionally,
in our dance with infinity.
The ache of regret. The gesture of time spent.
The list of miracles goes on and on
because the miracles never cease.
All of these miracles and so many more;
Do you see?
sometimes i forget there is no greater meaning in life than laughter, tears, and children. and then i remember. and life once again makes sense.
next question.
What if everything is perfectly in its place? What if there’s nothing that needs fixing? What if there’s not one thing wrong or broken that requires mending or changing? What if our darkness and our light are part and parcel of what makes us what we are and life what it is? What if all that is, was and ever will be was foretold long before our species arose from the soil of all that is?
Perhaps, despite what we’ve been taught to believe, humans aren’t the problem, and as such, there is no solution that must be sought. Maybe the judgement, blame, shame, hate, fear, pity, sorrow, guilt, freedom, glory, connection, playfulness, compassion, courage, joy – all of it – are a necessary and integral note in the Eternal Symphony of Life. And to constantly speak the story that humans are what is wrong with the world, is just another fable amongst the many we tell ourselves that keeps us spinning in the loop of suffering.
It could just be as simple and miraculous as we are a two-legged animal born out of a life-giving orb that spins in infinite space, that’s kept at just the right temperature by a distant star, and everything we are experiencing is unfolding perfectly just as it is. That we are one strand amongst many that are stitched together by forces we can’t control and barely understand. Miracles and madmen. Beams of light and shadows of darkness. Lost and found. Finite and infinite.
So, I say, step right up and catch the show while you can. It’s a limited-time only run and we can never know at what moment the final curtain call will come. And your mission, if you choose to accept it, is simple; love yourself. All the rest is the dance of life - so dance!
Sometimes i imagine i am dead
and i beg god to return me to earth
so once more i can
cry some tears
watch a sunset
swim in the sea
hug a loved one
dance with strangers
eat blueberry pie
chase dreams
watch fireflies
sing songs
pet my dog
sit quietly under a tree
and give thanks one more time
for every fucking moment
of this precious life
there is nothing to worry about. and the worry wouldn’t change a thing anyway. you’re here. you’ve already made it. there is nothing to fear. you are loved. you are love.
