dear friend
Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. "Pooh!" he whispered. "Yes, Piglet?" "Nothing," said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw. "I just wanted to be sure of you.”
what is this cruel news
that is blocking our beautiful views
that steals the love from the room
and dares to my heart consume
you are not welcome here
your shrouded face i do not fear
i will hold this woman close and dear
shake you down and force you out
am i clear
it is not the time or the place
i demand some grace
for some peace and healing
to enter the space
so that we can shower our love
upon this fair maiden
who bears a curse so brazen
this innocent flower who for so many
is a safe haven
i cannot abide this wretched ride
we will stand unwavering by her side
as the destiny from which we can’t hide
is revealed in our minds eye
what will become of each of us when we die?
now is not the time for asking why
now is the time to look inside
and offer the highest love vibe
to open our hearts so wide
that our gratitude fills the whole sky
such a star so rare
it’s impossible not to share
the impact you’ve had upon me
how your presence sets me free
to be the me that i am to be
you are sweeter than the sweetest honey
your unconditional love
deeper than the deepest sea
what a joy to share this journey
with someone as precious as thee
the memories
are flooding through my dreams
and all the while death
just can’t wait it seems
what the fuck does the grim reaper mean
ruining the scene
i want to rewind time
and suspend matter
find a room
where we can again all gather
no matter the circumstance
and give our souls one more chance
to hold hands and laugh and groove
and just fucking dance
touching that place that tells us all
from grace we will not fall
that our love is forever real and true
and it never ever fades from view
i will see you in that room
knowing it is there
that love eternally blooms
this poem was inspired by my dear friend loran who was one of the kindest, coolest, loveliest, most courageous humans i’ve ever known. i miss her deeply and immensely. and yet, the gratitude and joy i and so many others feel from knowing her, is the immeasurable gift that she gave to us by living and being the beautiful soul she was.
